City of Columbus ELEVATE! Grants

In June, I had the honor of participating in the grantmaking process for the City of Columbus ELEVATE! program, which distributed funds from the American Rescue Plan Act to local nonprofit organizations. These capacity-buliding grants were given to organizations working in three areas: infant vitality, homelessness, and housing stability for immigrants and refugees. On Monday, I joined the press conference (covered by ABC News) when the grants were announced by the mayor and members of city council. I was proud that these leaders made the process accessible to small nonprofits, participatory, and dedicated the funding to capacity-building efforts, which is desperately needed by nonprofits coming out of the pandemic.

As we build back from the COVID pandemic, capacity-building at local non-profits is a critical step to help partners provide the goods and services our residents deserve. Iā€™m excited to support these non-profits so they can better support residents.
