The Yoke of Objectivity in Public Administration (and Beyond)
Recently I published a new article on objectivity. This article is special to me for several reasons. First, it was written with brilliant co-authors, including one long-time colleague, but new co-author, a new colleague, and two doctoral students (one at OSU and one at IU who was a past Glenn masters student). It’s also special because it pushes my research in a new direction. Post-tenure, I aim to dedicate more of my time to developing my ideas around philosophies of social science and methodology. The assumptions we make in our research directly impact the things we can know and understand about the world. Too many of the social science’s current norms undermine our ability to create a more just society. My work will push back on these norms and put forward alternatives, offering up-and-coming scholars the tools to take a different approach. Approaches that will allow them to pursue equity and justice.
