Chronicle of Philanthropy on Fundraiser Sexual Harassment

Yesterday, Association of Fundraising Professionals released my report written with Dr. Megan LePere-Schloop on sexual harassment in fundraising. The report shares the results of a survey and multiple interviews conducted with fundraisers. It is also a toolkit. It includes awareness-building, training, and assessment materials including an infographic, two sexual harassment scenarios with discussion questions, an organizational sexual harassment prevention assessment and a corresponding action planning template. The release was covered in the Chronicle of Philanthropy as well as the Nonprofit Times.

‘All of these issues are about power,’ says Erynn Beaton, assistant professor at the college and an author of the report. In interviews, she says, fundraisers of color told her that their race played into their experiences of sexual harassment — not just their gender.
